May Project Spotlight | Supporting the next generation

Young artists and emerging creatives are the future of our cultural sector. This month we’re celebrating projects that are giving the next generation a leg up by providing opportunities for creative work development, financial support and mentorship.

The Katie Lees Fellowship provides young women in theatre access to a supportive arts community and the opportunity to develop and showcase their own unique performance pieces. The Katie Lees Fellowship empowers young female artists to tell their stories.

Donations will assist in securing rehearsal space, hiring production staff and sourcing production materials.

2023 is a busy year for Dots+Loops as they present a season of live concert events and their emerging artist Fellowship Program. The fellowships allow emerging performers and composers to participate in a series of rehearsals, workshops and seminars with performances in the annual festival, Nonstop, rounding out the program.

Donations will be used to provide paid work for local artists/arts workers, commission new works, and support 6 early-career Fellows.

The Canberra Youth Orchestra are raising funds to offer scholarships to talented young musicians. The scholarships will be available to those who may otherwise be unable to join weekly rehearsals and regular performances and will target players of instruments that are sometimes hard to find, but play an important part in being able to present orchestral works.

Donations will be used to subsidise the tuition fees required to be part of the CYO.
