For more than 28 years, the Western Australian Youth Strings Orchestra (WAYS) has provided a pathway to further musical opportunities for children in Years 3 to 8 who would otherwise not have access to quality string ensemble programs.
WAYS and its junior orchestra, JWAYS, perform throughout the year at a range of venues including concert halls, Government House, shopping centres, nursing homes and IGA Carols by Candlelight at Supreme Court Gardens (in front of an audience of 10,000).
Many of its members have gone on to receive musical scholarships, and play for the WA Symphony Orchestra and other prestigious musical organisations interstate and overseas.
In order to secure the future of WAYS, this non-profit, independent community organisation is seeking your help.
We are seeking to raise $7,000 to help cover the running costs of the orchestras this year and to enable us to start offering scholarships to more talented, deserving young musicians. When children participate in a high-quality music ensemble they develop faster musically, they are exposed to wider styles of music and they also develop many non-musical skills like teamwork, discipline, organisation and thriving under pressure.
We would love to be able to offer these opportunities to more children.
Every donation of $50 can enable one child to participate in the orchestra for a month.
Please help us to enable WAYS to continue what it has excelled at for more than two decades – fostering a love and mastery of music in Western Australian primary school children.
Please become a ‘WAYS Supporter’ today.
