The Day Dreamers are a not for profit mentoring program for dancers which runs out of local Sydney Venues 5 hrs every Sunday in the school terms. This program is aimed at giving kids from all different walks of life the opportunity to follow their dreams and to be mentored by industry professionals in a safe and positive environment.
This is not just your ordinary dance class. This is a program that has been created to train young performers and their parents in all areas of the industry. The mentor J Jazzy runs weekly workshops for these young dancers where they get training and support in a non-competitive environment. DJ Jazzy has created an incredible space for these young performers.
All fees collected go back into the program to cover costs of venue hire, instructors, costumes etc. The program is run by a team of volunteers DJ Jazzy herself included. The Day Dreamers are then given the opportunity to perform and support DJ Jazzy at live performances.
DJ Jazzy is passionate about empowering young people to deal with feelings, teaching them to stay positive and to take care of themselves physically and mentally and encourages everyone to follow their dreams, using her music and social media platforms to deliver the message. Her why factor is such an important reason she is so passionate about getting her message out. This is exactly the kind of inspiration our kids need to combat all the negativity around them. So many kids are fraught with low self-esteem and low self-confidence, especially those with common challenges such as depression, abuse, anxiety, and bullying. These children in particular need to be reminded of their unique skills, talents, and strengths, and to focus on all the positive and wonderful qualities they possess.
We are looking at financial support to help secure a regular weekly venue to hire, pay for the industry mentors she brings in to teach an assist with costume and overhead costs so we can keep the program at minimum costs to families. We are also looking for performance opportunities.
Any financial assistance will mean the program can run at minimum costs to families so kids from all socio economic backgrounds can participate. All kids who have dreams should be able to follow them. Any performance opportunities means the kids get to showcase what they have learnt and build their confidence.
