Support un Projects 2019

un Projects publishes ambitious, daring and critical art writing. We support new and diverse voices, and are committed to generating dialogue about, and building audiences for, local independent art.

Days Left

un Projects occupies a unique space in Australia’s contemporary art publishing landscape, a nexus that links dialogue across the arts community. We provide a platform for engagement with local and independent practice, engaging deeply with critical art discourse and expanding audiences for artists, writers and independent art spaces.

Our flagship publication is the biannual un Magazine, guest edited annually and distributed for free in print and online. un Magazine comprises original, rigorous and innovative arts writing, with new voices sitting alongside some of Australia’s most significant art writers. Complementing the magazine is the digital un Extended, publishing reviews and conversations monthly, as well as one-off publishing projects and partnered programs.

As mainstream Australian media offers less and less coverage of visual art – particularly the independent sector – the role of un Projects in fostering critical dialogue, and encouraging excellence and innovation around contemporary visual arts, is increasingly important.

un Projects has a long history of championing, mentoring and supporting emerging voices, First Nations practitioners, established critics and diverse and independent arts writers. With your support, we will continue to do so, taking a leadership role in fostering dialogue, connectivity and accessibility around contemporary visual art.

Committed to inclusivity, everything that we publish is free, but ALL contributors are paid. Your generous donation will help us pay the artists, writers, editors, designers and mentors we work with.

Supporting us at any level makes a difference. To give you an idea of the value of your donation:
$500+ unPrecedented – supports the career development of an emerging arts writer, including professional mentoring and paid publication in un Magazine
$1,200+ unConditional – allows us to commission three months worth of innovative, engaged and quality content for our readers
$200+ unDisputed – pays an arts writer to publish a review of an independent ARI or gallery on un Extended
$3,000+ unSurpassed – sponsors a writer to produce a major body of new work engaging critically and creatively with contemporary visual art

If you are interested in discussing your support, please contact Sarah Gory, un Managing Editor, on sarahgory@unprojects.org.au or 0401 210 641.

un Projects is a collective based in Australia that generates independent and critical dialogue around contemporary art, primarily through publishing projects.

With a focus on artists, writers, artist-run initiatives and independent projects, un Projects publishes articles, artists’ work and reviews, in print and online. un Projects also presents exhibitions, talks and other one-off contemporary art-related events.

Our flagship publication is un Magazine, a bi-annual collection of essays, works and experimental writing, documenting Australia’s vibrant independent arts communities and fostering the next generation of arts writers, editors and curators. Our digital publishing arm, un Extended, is a leader in discourse around independent, contemporary art in Australia and overseas.

Founded as a magazine in 2004 by Melbourne artist Lily Hibberd, un Projects was established in 2008 to ensure the ongoing publication of un Magazine and develop further art writing initiatives.
