Queensland Poetry Festival (QPF) adds to Queensland’s cultural life, as a vibrant festival and arts organisation supporting poetry in all its forms. QPF produces Australia’s flagship poetry festival, bringing together poets, artists, musicians, storytellers and audiences for workshops, readings, performances, panels, talks, installations, music and more.
In addition, QPF supports the development of emerging Australian poets through the Queensland poetry awards and poets-in-residence programs, with an ongoing commitment to Indigenous poetry through our Indigenous Poet-in-Residence program and Oodgeroo Noonuccal Poetry Prize.
Reflecting the diversity of Australian voices, QPF embraces all styles of poetry. Our work underpins a vibrant spoken word culture through the Queensland Poetry Slam and Slammed! schools program, along with our annual schedule of workshops, salons, readings and events for audiences young and old.
Your support will help QPF continue to present true diversity and inclusiveness in the poetic form – helping writers who are often unheard be heard and share stories that we all need to hear.
Through 2018-19 we’re also aiming to grow our program by:
> Supporting regional communities to engage in Festival events through wider programming and digital events
> Expanding our work with students and young people in regional Queensland through an expanded Slammed! schools program
> Providing opportunities for older emerging writers, aged 55 and over, to access professional development though the Emerging Older Poets Mentorship
