In these times it can be easy to feel distanced from our audiences and feel at a loss as to how continue sharing our love of music. We’re working hard behind the scenes to get as much quality content as we can to our audience and create unique, innovative ways to #keepthemusicgoing
All monies raised here will go on to funding Arcadia Winds’ activities throughout 2020 and beyond. These funds will be essential in helping us to maintain operations and cover ongoing costs, and provide some financial relief to our budgets, as 90% of our regular income has been lost to this pandemic. We also plan to put these funds towards adapting to the changing environment, and future-proofing our business so we can continue to make our art and generate income as a proud, independent organisation.
In order to do this, we will be heavily investing in technology and gaining expertise and advice on how to create and deliver our content digitally. This includes the purchase of high-quality microphones, software and hardware, that will allow us to bring audiences a beautiful-sounding and stunning-looking online musical experience.
We are also planning a number of projects in which we can use this technology to make a valuable contribution to the artistic and broader community. These include the continued development of WindStreams, the Australian Wind Music Portal, which provides free access to performance videos of Australian music, and interviews with Australian composers; creating a series of educational videos for children ages 4-10, with the brilliant children’s educator and good friend of Arcadia Emily McKnight; and the running of our 2020 Arcadia Winds Composition Prize, which will provide valuable experience and financial support for young Australian composers. We will also continue to create quality content for our patrons who support us on Patreon.
