Spark Youth Dance Company 2017 Season

Spark Youth Dance Company Inc. provides a platform for young people to create, direct and perform in new dance works on the Mornington Peninsula.

Days Left

Spark Youth Dance Company Inc. is a non-profit organisation where like-minded young people can come together to share the magic of theatre and dance.

We are excited to be once again creating another full-length dance work to be premiered in October 2017, following our successful debut 2016 season.

In our first year, Spark Youth Dance Company Inc. produced a contemporary dance version of The Nutcracker, set during WW1. The production was created, directed and danced by young people under the age of 25 and our 2017 production will provide even more opportunities for young people to help direct and create a dance work.

Our dancers and creatives all share the same passion for being part of a new and exciting creative process and we hope to inspire young people to be thoughtful and adventurous in not only their dancing and art, but in their lives outside of dance, too.

Donations will be used to cover set, costume and production costs, as well as marketing and hall and theatre hire fees.

Donating to Spark’s 2017 season would mean supporting the passions and dreams of a group of young people who will one day be the next generation of arts supporters and artistic leaders.

By the end of 2017, we will have created a new full-length dance work and will have impacted the lives of dancers and creative young people all over the Mornington Peninsula.

And we would love for you to be part of our journey.

Spark Youth Dance Company Inc. is a dance initiative driven entirely by young people under the age of twenty-five.

We strive to spark a passion for the creative process in the next generation of artistic leaders by providing the opportunity for a team of young people to create both short and full-length dance works.

Spark is a non-profit incorporated association led by Artistic Director Alex Dellaportas and supported by a committee and a new team of young creatives each year.

In its inaugural year, Spark produced an original contemporary dance interpretation of The Nutcracker set during WW1 that performed at the Frankston Arts Centre in September 2016, with guest artist Daniel Gaudiello.

Our vision is to provide a place where young people can express themselves through both creation and performance and to give youth a safe space to have their voices heard as young artists.
