Over a single day their lives interweave and unsettling connections lead to change and redemption.
Some Happy Day is a feature film inspired by my work at the Salvation Army Crisis Centre and the Sacred Heart Mission.
Every day I witness the strength, resilience, compassion, kindness, pain, ingenuity, dignity, shame, desires, struggles and stories of people who have found themselves homeless, sleeping on the beach, in the park, behind the library, in a doorway, on a veranda, under a stairwell or in a squat. This is our story.
My creative work is deeply influenced by my social work.
As a director I have worked with major theatre companies, directed large scale national tours and small scale community productions.
In 2016 I was invited by film director Richard Gray to go to Montana and shadow him for the shoot of Broken Ghost, a feature film script I developed with my husband, writer Abe Pogos. Inspired by this experience I’ve decided to take the leap and embark on this extraordinary journey to produce and direct Some Happy Day.
I’m hoping you might journey with us.

Some Happy Day is a micro budget feature set mostly in St Kilda. It will be shot over fourteen days with both my employers supporting the film by providing locations. Our main costs include equipment hire, insurance, post production, catering, travel and accommodation for a two day shoot in Daylesford.
All money raised from this campaign will be used to offset these costs. A copy of the budget and the script can be provided on request. Please contact us through Facebook.
Thanks,
Catherine
