Silent Without The Sun

Like clockwork, the Olympic cycle is perpetual and in modern times it has not been broken until now. The short film, Silent Without The Sun, showcases the break in this cycle.

Days Left

The short film, Silent Without The Sun, will follow national rowing squad members in this moment of darkness as we wait to hear if the Olympics will go ahead. World sport is at its nadir, but the race can still be won or lost. The life of an athlete can be defined by what they do here and now. Through the sport of rowing, we will showcase the resilience, commitment and training of the men and women from the national squad.

The project can be bigger and better. We want to involve more Australian rowers to show a united team and community.

Silent Without The Sun will elicit a greater understanding of the mental and physical toll these rowers undergo to reach their goal of competing in Tokyo. This powerful story will be illustrated like never before – a beautiful and courageous visual experience. We will champion the athletes that get up before the sun and rise to the occasion.

The film will bring hope and inspire others. It will help create a sense of community for all athletes in this current situation.

All donations will be used to fund costs associated with the production including filming for 3-4 days in Canberra and Penrith, camera equipment hire, travel and accommodation, catering for cast and crew. Post-production costs include music track composition, sound design and colour grading. We will also use any funds we have to enter into film festivals.

We believe it will be an unfinished project without the elements mentioned above. The end result will be an exhilarating 2 -3 minute piece with narration by the athletes themselves.
