Australian pianist Kathryn Selby, AM, created this national concert series in 2007 and her guest artists include many of the finest solo and ensemble performers from Australia and around the world.

The series is widely considered “world class”, recently heralded as “titans of chamber music”, with many hailing Ms Selby as not only an “entrepreneurial force” but amongst the finest of Australian artists. She was awarded the ‘AM’ as part of the Australia Day Honours, 2013. Please visit our website, www.selbyandfriends.com.au, to see more detail and listen to our concerts recorded live.

Recently the music press dubbed the series “masters musicians at the top of their game,” and “not just friends, but family!” Our goals are to present memorable experiences with world-class events, to support young people in a learning capacity and to help them reach their professional potential, and to support Australia’s cultural life as a vital balancing element within strong communities.

The 2019 Season welcomes back many wonderful old friends who have enthralled audiences in previous seasons, and appearances by two brilliant young Australian artists as part of our program to support young musicians and their professional development. This Season celebrates the sonata and trio genre with “master musicians at the top of their game” from Australia and around the world! The development of brilliant partnerships and the exploration of new musical worlds remains our focus.

This coming season, marks 30 years of innovative concert creation around Australia by Kathryn Selby, AM. With consistently rave reviews from audiences and critics alike, and continuous national and international broadcasts on ABC & MBS network radio, these joyous, intimate concerts continue to be treasured by audiences everywhere, whether they are hearing Selby & Friends for the first time or are loyal subscribers who’ve attended our concerts for many years.

It is thanks to the incredible generosity of chamber music lovers that we have been presenting Selby & Friends since 2007.  As we move through our second decade, we would like to once again ask for your support to help Selby & Friends continue to bring performances and wonderful listening opportunities with first-class Australian and international musicians to our stages whilst managing to cover costs like venue hire, artist fees, travel, marketing and publicity.

With your help, the Selby & Friends series can continue its broader inspirational outreach to children who can attend our concerts for free, and young Australian artists. We wish to continue to enrich the communities in which we present concerts and the wider public through radio broadcasts.

Our website has much more detail about the guest artists, live music, video content and links to social media.
