The Selby & Friends concert series, created by Australian pianist Kathryn Selby AM, has earned an enviable reputation for the highest quality performances and an atmosphere of warmth and familiarity. In 2016, Selby & Friends presents its 10th anniversary season of chamber music concerts in five tours to Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, the Southern Highlands, Sydney and Turramurra.
The exciting 2016 season presents an outstanding ensemble of acclaimed performers playing many of their favourite masterworks in duos and trios. Schubert, Brahms, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Gerard Brophy, Copland, Mendelssohn, Julian Yu, Liszt and many more will be performed by brilliant musicians like violinists Nikki Chooi, Andrew Haveron and Dean Olding, cellists Julian Smiles and Timo-Veikko Valve, and pianist Kathryn Selby.
Selby & Friends has initiated multiple successful outreach projects building audiences and championing Australian composers and rising star musicians. The ’14-years and under go free’ ticket invites youth to attend Selby & Friends concerts at no charge. Our Audience Commission Award 2014 resulted in the commission and premiere of a new work by Paul Dean. The Artist Development Initiative has mentored young musicians like violinist Anna Da Silva Chen and Grace Clifford.
Why we need your support.
It is thanks to the generosity of chamber music lovers that we’ve been presenting Selby & Friends since 2007. As we move into our second decade, we’d like to again ask for your support to help Selby & Friends cover ever-increasing overhead costs like performance hall hire, and to contribute to performances and listening opportunities with first-class Australian and international musicians.
If desired, donations can also be earmarked for the Audience Commission Award, contributing to the creation of new chamber music works by Australian composers.
