We are Feet First Collective, a WA based collective of artists who train and excavate the human experience through rigorous somatic processes to make brave theatre from the ground up. We are raising money to support our upcoming tour of S-27 by Sarah Grochala to Adelaide Fringe 2020.

Feet First Collective produced the successful WA premiere of S-27, a prize-winning play inspired by the S-21 prison and the Khmer Rouge that interrogates the question ‘What would you do to survive?’ at the 2019 Fremantle Festival. We begin with an immersive prologue that leads us into a room where we meet May, a revolutionary and an idealist, who is faced with betraying those she loves and her ideals to survive in the regime she helped create. She works as a photographer in a prison set up to process and document traitors. We follow her journey.

We have been programmed at The Mill Adelaide from February 14-16, but will be in Adelaide from February 9-18.

The top five descriptors from audience surveys from the Fremantle Festival production were: ‘confronting’, ‘thought provoking’, ’emotional’, ‘engaging’ and ‘powerful’. It got people thinking about personal responsibility in the face of divisive historical and contemporary politics. Feet First Collective’s desire to share the work with national audiences derives from the response to its relevance. Additionally, this is a timely professional development opportunity offering Feet First Collective the chance to build on the success of the season at the 2019 Fremantle Festival, as well as gain national exposure and touring experience. We are asking for $5000 to help us achieve a successful tour to Adelaide Fringe 2020.

Donations will be used to assist Feet First Collective with the cost of technical equipment, as well as set, props and costumes. With your help we can realise our goal of a highly successful Adelaide Tour which will not only provide audiences in Adelaide with excellent, provocative work, but also allow our creatives the chance to further explore and develop their artistic careers.

We are a collective of artists who train and excavate the human experience through rigorous somatic processes to make brave theatre from the ground up. We are a boutique producing house that makes quality contemporary independent theatre. We are about bold, brave ideas that encompass artistic development for the members of the collective and evocative and challenging experiences for audiences. We believe theatre can be used as a magnifying glass to focus on stories and themes that have urgency and contemporary resonance.
