We are providing a platform for any member of the community to produce a film and showcase it in front of an appreciative and supportive audience. People can get involved either individually or as a part of team.
Participants have one week to produce and submit their film after a common them is released on 26 September. We want people to the bold, innovative and creative. We aim to remove as many barriers as possible to access and participate in the event. We support participants during the festival by way of workshops for entrants on how to develop their story ideas, shoot and edit their films and other technical assistance.
The festival’s major focus is community engagement, inclusiveness, collaboration. cross-disciplinary projects and cultural diversity. We believe that everyone has the capacity to produce a unique and creative story. We want to provide a platform for community members to participate in a creative project.
In addition, we wanted to establish an event that celebrates participation over competition whilst also providing a platform that is accessible to both emerging and practicing film makers.
We want to establish a sustainable, annual fixture on Lismore’s burgeoning cultural scene. Donations will be used to keep ticket prices low, and to employ local creative industry experts. Donations will also be used to fund the production costs including hiring equipment and personnel to operate the equipment. Any left over money will go towards security and amenities for the screening.
The end result is an event that brings people to the CBD of Lismore to celebrate the creative potential of the community.
