DanceBourne Arts aims to promote knowledge and understanding of performing arts using classically based dance as a canvas for multidisciplinary collaborations.
DanceBourne Arts seeks to re-explore the influential names, movements and turning points of the development of arts in history. Art and dance history for us, however, are not seen as a romantic nostalgia of the past, but they are re-examined as an opportunity for rejuvenation and reflection on the present and the future.
DanceBourne Arts has commenced rehearsals for its first proposed staged performance.
Paraphrasing Wassily Kandinsky’s theoretical work on abstract painting, the project Pointe, Line and Surface defines and expresses the elemental nature of dance through three all-female quartet pieces exploring the themes of technique, alignment and movement and the evolution of classical dance through time.
Paying tribute to one of the first Prima Ballerinas, Marie Taglioni, the first piece of this project is based on a famous romantic choreography that takes back to the time when classical dancers initiated to dance en pointe with non-athletic and yet technically controlled posture.
In the second piece, a neoclassical all-female quartet on original music from the composer Luke Serrano, resident senior choreographer Anne Butler transposes the timeless feminine themes of the Etruscan mythology of Tesana from classical antiquity to the contemporary age.
With the third and final piece, resident choreographer Wei Wei Zhang will challenge artists and audience exploring the unforeseen surface of a new contemporary dance piece that celebrates womanhood.
Pointe, Line and Surface is a project developed in collaboration with visual artist Anna Caione.
The members of DanceBourne Arts are internationally experienced and professionally qualified and they are committed to express their talents to produce works based on an educated understanding of the timeless principles and the demanding techniques of dance.
DanceBourne Arts is conceived, founded, run and directed by women to promote projects focused on the artistic expression of dance through the elegance, the sophistication and the sensibility of the female mind and body.
We presently seek start up funding to present our first staged performance project Pointe, Line and Surface to cover venue, production, promotion, wages administration and marketing costs. We are a non profit organisation. Any funding received will be solely generated towards our current and envisioned future productions.
We thank you sincerely in advance for all funding and donations received.
