Our goal for this print issue is to continue seeking underrepresented artists and give them a platform to share their personal experiences and their work, to actively place them at the forefront. With such a publication, we have the opportunity to change the way the publishing industries approach diversity and inclusivity, demonstrating how easy it is to be genuine in our representation. Over the past two years POCC Magazine has been a purely online publication, however we aim to change this by publishing the first, of what we hope to be many, bi-annual print issues.

We aim to have this on shelves by March 2021! This project’s aim is to continue supporting not only our creative team of writers, producers, editors, stylists, models, photographers and directors; it is intended to further uplift the voices of POC’s within these creative industries. This print issue will give these people a more tangible, physical platform to share their personal narratives.

This project is important because POCC Magazine is one of the only publications centering itself around people of colour, run by people of colour, and actively seeks to uplift those underrepresented in our communities. We are paving the way for other publications to follow suit, demonstrating how easy it is to be genuine in diverse representation. Not only are we showing this to the industry, we are showing POC creatives that there are spaces for them to shine without tokenization or mistreatment.

In helping us publish this issue you will be in turn, helping these POC creatives be compensated for their work, time and effort. You will be supporting communities who typically receive little to no support, especially in terms of a fair wage. You will be helping us give these people a platform to shine and grow, and you will be showing that you care about authentic representation in the media. We are asking for $15,000 to help us print, publish, distribute, and promote our first issue, whilst paying our contributors their rightful compensation.

Your donations will go toward the direct production of the publication. The funds will be used in paying our internal creative team, our contributors, all of our freelancers as well as all the production costs; printing, venue hire, equipment hire for photo & video shoots, promotion, permits, travel, website creation and all administration costs. Our final result will ideally be 150 copies of our first print issue, ready to be sold to all of those wanting to support POCC Magazine. We will hold a launch party in celebration of its completion and to further promote everything we are doing and aim to do in 2021.

We hope that with this first issue we will spark a greater interest in POCC Magazine, and will give us the resources to continue creating these bi-annual print issues, as well as keeping our online presence up to date!

You can find out more about POCC Magazine and what we’re doing on our website, www.poccmag.com and on our Instagram @poccmag.

People of Colour Collective (POCC) Magazine, is a publication that is dedicated to championing, supporting and spotlighting POC creatives within the fashion, art, film, music, photography and culture sector.

With such a publication, we have the opportunity to change the way these industries approach diversity and inclusivity, demonstrating how easy it is to be genuine in representation.

POCC Magazine not only focuses on uplifting the voices of people of colour, we aim to give all those experiencing prejudice a chance to share their experience. Founded in August of 2018, POCC Magazine is predominantly a digital platform and soon intends to produce bi-annual print issues. As we continue to create spaces for POC creatives to share their experiences through spotlighting features, editorials, music playlists, photo galleries and much more; we are demonstrating that these kind of spaces exist and should be encouraged!
