Old Fitz Theatre 2020

Red Line Productions is one of Australia’s leading professional independent theatre presenters and for the last five years has been at the forefront of reigniting Sydney’s legendary and wildly intimate Old Fitz Theatre.

Days Left

Red Line Productions have been the recipients of over 60 nominations and over 20 wins for various awards from both the Sydney Theatre Awards critics and the GLUGS. The include Red Line Productions winning Best Independent Production at the 2017 Sydney Theatre Awards for A View From The Bridge by Arthur Miller, Best New Australian Work at the 2017 GLUGS Awards for the World Premiere of This Much Is True by Louis Nowra and Most Outstanding Independent Production at the 2018 GLUGS Awards for the World Premiere of King Of Pigs by Steve Rodgers.

The was-to-be Old Fitz 2020 theatre season, simply called HOME, had announced 6 World Premieres, 1 Australian Premiere, 2 Sydney Premieres and 2 phenomenal revivals. Due to COVID-19 we have had to shut the doors to our theatre and move towards an online platform in order to survive.

During the COVID-19 shut down, RLP have very successfully moved towards an online platform out of necessity. Our first play reading was ORPHANS by Lyle Kessler starring Alec Baldwin, Aaron Glenane and Andrew Henry. Our second live stream play reading was GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES by Rajiv Joseph starring Rose Byrne and Ewen Leslie. We were the world leaders in doing a live stream from two continents of the world. We had audience members from all over the world, in fact over 15,000 views world wide tuned into these two play readings.

We have also just produced two live streamed performances from the Old Fitz Theatre with 9 cameras and a band with Elenoa Rokobaro’s show, AT LAST Live in Concert.

Red Line’s next project will be Toby Schmitz in THOM PAIN (BASED ON NOTHING) by Will Eno. Filmed LIVE at the Fitz for 6 shows, totally live.

Red Line will not stop entertaining the people. We will not close down. We need your help so we can continue to entertain you and bring enjoyment, love and warmth into the comfort of your own homes!

All donations will go towards all of our Red Line projects in 2020. We will continue to dominate the live stream platform.

We have another major production, yet to announce, that will bring back Red Line Productions with a bang. This will entail a live production with a live audience! There is so much planned and we need your help to achieve your dreams!

Red Line Productions kicked into life in late 2014 to resurrect the much-loved Old Fitzroy Theatre in Woolloomooloo. Since taking up their residency, the venue has been transformed into a robust centre for excellence and independent sector generation through Red Line’s curated programming and late night development frames for new writing and emerging practitioner showcasing. Now widely acknowledged as Sydney’s home of indie theatre, the company was nominated for 22 Sydney Theatre Awards in 2015.

Founded on an ethos of backing the next generation of artists and audience, Red Line delivers positive leadership in the growth and vitality of the independent sector. The work of Red Line is absolutely necessary, ensuring that Australia’s independent creative ecology remains distinct and resilient.

The intensely intimate nature of the venue allows for fearless programming and production; the venue is positioned as a hub to connect audiences, artists and supporters. Red Line contributes to building strong artistic and creative capital, embracing and developing the audience of the future.
