Choral Excellence for Young Australians – NYCA was founded over 20 years ago to provide the opportunity for some of Australia’s best young singers (aged 18 to 26) to develop their artistic skills and build networks for the basis of a career in choral music. While many Australian cities offer choirs, NYCA offers a level of excellence and professionalism bringing together like-minded young singers from all around Australia. NYCA exists to inspire and empower them to develop a commitment to music and to achieve the highest standards of vocal ensemble performance. The 2018 residential season is based in Geelong with performances in Geelong, Bendigo, Flinders and Melbourne.
NYCA works with very limited resources. In addition, our singers generally do not yet have the financial independence of someone established in the work sector and often have significant accommodation and education costs. Each year we struggle to keep the costs we must pass on to the singers as low as possible. To overcome this problem and make NYCA participation open to as many excellent singers as possible means that we work hard to provide as much financial assistance as is possible. But this usually only covers some of the ‘must haves’ such as accommodation, meals and transport. It does not cover additional items which help us to market NYCA in the future. We believe it is vital that we record these amazing voices and works but to do so we need your help.
We need at least $6500 to enable us to take professional video and audio recordings of the 2018 season and to have photographs taken during the nine-day season of rehearsals and performances.
Will you give our recording wings? We are seeking your support to give our singers the biggest wings possible – these are Australia’s professional singers of the future. Let’s hear them!
