Taree Film Society plans to move its new DCI projector to the new venue on completion in late 2020. We are supporting the MidCoast Council/ Manning Entertainment Centre / NSW Regional Cultural Fund project. This will be a 150-200 seat multi use auditorium which will allow intimate screenings, performances, recitals, meetings, functions and displays. The venue will complement the Manning Entertainment Centre and in combination will allow many opportunities to host major events. The cinema grade screen and sound equipment will help deliver superb audience experience.
Taree Film Society has delivered cinema diversity to the Manning Valley for 25 years. Our equipment upgrades are needed to meet industry standards that allow us to source current release, artistically driven, culturally diverse, and critically acclaimed movies. The screen and sound system together with our new projector will deliver the viewing experience that the filmmakers envisage. We can then continue to bring the diversity of cinema that rural areas would otherwise be denied. We can continue to invite filmmakers to explain their work and introduce our young people to the possibilities of film craft and telling their stories. We also will have the opportunity to programme cinema festivals and collaborative screenings with like-minded artistic partners and groups.
We need your help to get us over the line. Taree Film Society is very grateful for the NSW Government Regional Cultural Fund grant that combined with the society’s resources give us the opportunity to add the final touches to the cinema experience in this wonderful new facility in the Manning Valley. Your donation will secure the equipment our volunteers need to bring metropolitan choice and world movies to the country.
