To produce a major exhibition of illustration by Narelle Oliver at the StoryArts Festival Ipswich (SAFI), we need your help. This exhibition will be a highlight of the Festival, and will continue in the Ipswich Community Gallery throughout September, with holiday workshops engaging children and adults alike in the arts.

It will then travel to The Literature Centre in W.A. with other possible galleries and exhibition options in discussion.

We need your help to make this a reality and honour Narelle Oliver’s lifetime of work and dedication to the Arts. Help support the recreation of Narelle Oliver’s art studio, AR technology inclusion, materials and equipment for the moving image projection and materials and fees for workshop artists.

In September, StoryArts Festival Ipswich will offer exciting literary experiences for adults and children showcasing over 30 authors, illustrators and performers. We are planning a major exhibition of Narelle Oliver’s work. Sadly she passed away in 2016 but we are committed to bringing her vision to reality.

The gallery walls will display prints, linocuts and roughs from a cross section of her books. We will re-create Narelle’s studio within the gallery for visitors to experience with artefacts, objects and art materials carefully selected from her studio to be on display. AR elements will be used to ensure a fully immersive arts experience. Large, to-scale images will be used as backdrops to recreate every aspect of Narelle’s studio as it was when creating her last book.

Student Workshops were conducted in February to explore the printmaking techniques used by Narelle Oliver to create a series of art works. The children’s art is being transformed into a moving image projection and shown each night for two weeks of the exhibition on nearby exterior buildings.

This will be the first major exhibition of Narelle Oliver’s art.

Your donations will:
• support the purchase of backdrops for the re-created studio
• provide materials and equipment for the moving image projection
• provide materials and fees for workshop artists
• Contribute to costs for AR app

Information about the festival and how to book for workshops will be listed on our website.

The Ipswich District Teacher Librarian Network covers primary schools and public libraries in the Ipswich, Somerset, Lockyer region of South East Queensland.

The Network produces a resource book each year which provides teachers, teacher-librarians, and public librarians all over Australia with ideas on how to celebrate Children’s Book Week. It generates funds to support our projects.

Our major project is a biennial Festival of Children’s Literature called StoryArts Festival Ipswich which provides around 7000 young readers with access to authors, illustrators, storytellers, exhibitions and performances across a week in September, culminating in a conference for adults.

The Network runs a four day young writers camp during the June holidays every year and professionally publishes a book of their stories. The network also coordinates the Ipswich and Somerset/Lockyer Regions CBCA Readers Cup and supports the Kids Lit Quiz in Queensland.

The Network is a major donor to the The Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards Foundation and winner of the 2001 IASL/SIRS Commendation Award. It has twice won Ipswich City Community Event of the Year Award.
