The Margaret River Region has one of the highest concentrations of artists in Australia and we are passionate about raising the profile of our artists through an annual Open Studios event.
The sixth Open Studios event will be held over 16 days from 27 April to 12 May 2019 with over 100 painters, sculptors, illustrators, jewellers, printmakers, glassblowers, ceramicists, photographers and furniture makers opening their studios.
Visitors of the event enjoy a unique experience – the rare opportunity to interact and engage directly with artists and artisans in their private studios. The event provides opportunities to talk with artists, learn their secrets, explore new art techniques, share ideas, discover artists’ inspiration and admire art. Given the wide diversity of the studios, this is a multi-layered experience, especially as it happens in and amongst the natural beauty, biodiversity and amazing facilities of the South West region.
It provides the opportunity for artists to directly engage with a large audience, who they wouldn’t ordinarily have the chance. It provides artists a very important platform to establish and nurture future relationships with art lovers. This event supports artists and especially emerging artists, who would not otherwise have access to this exposure. The event stimulates and enriches the cultural and artistic environment of the region.
We are asking visitors, artists and everyone keen on the arts to donate. Margaret River Region Open Studios is a for purpose, not for profit organisation run entirely by volunteers.
Margaret River Region Open Studios is a free event, which is much loved by visitors and artists, but costs money to coordinate and promote. As the event has grown, these costs have increased and we are looking to raise $10,000 to help contribute specifically to the production and printing of our essential 40 page free Event Guide.
Your donation will help ensure the longevity of the event and assist us with one of our major expenses.
