Having completed his Bachelor of Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Jake is pursuing the next step in his musical career by moving abroad. Having travelled to London in November 2018 to audition for four of the nation’s colleges, Jake was awarded a place, with a small scholarship, to study at three of the four colleges. These colleges each have incredible vocal and operatic departments but the Royal Academy of Music was the standout for Jake.
Pursuing further study abroad is always an amazing experience, regardless of the field of study, but for a young musician wanting to make a name for themselves in classical music London is the place to be and the Royal Academy of Music is a school known for producing quality artists. Among others, the list includes: Sir Elton John, Sir Simon Rattle, Dame Felicity Lott, Graham Johnson, and many other leading figures.
Jake will be leaving Australia on the 20th of August before commencing his studies in early September, 2019.
This project is important to Jake because the opportunity to study in another country and to be surrounded by the wonder that is London is the chance of a lifetime. Perth is a young city and our operatic culture even younger.
The donations will be used to pay for the tuition costs of being an international student at the Royal Academy as well as aiding in living expenses.
The end result will be a masters degree from one of the leading arts academies in the world. This will place Jake in great stead when he goes onto pursue the next phase in his career; be that work or further study.
