Since its inception in 2015, Lor Journal has been publishing online content by emerging and established writers from Melbourne and beyond. Lor Journal has developed its own creative community through its associations with The Urban Writing House, Brunswick SLSC, Emerging Writers Festival, Abbotsford Convent’s Open Spaces Festival, and The National Library of Australia.
Lor Journal is raising funds in order to pay its contributors for their art, writing and time. Lor hopes to raise $4000 to ensure we can pay a number of contributors for their work over the next 12 months.
A collaborative platform, Lor produces content relevant to both the literary and art communities within Melbourne. We are interested in artists and writers at all career stages, fostering collaboration between medium and genre. We endeavour to bridge the gap between practices, expanding creative community.
Lor provides a platform to those who need it, and publishes content that is engaging, inclusive and important. We believe it is imperative that our writers and artists are paid for their contributions.
In addition to the online platform, Lor hosts regular events and readings throughout Melbourne. This provides our community of artists and writers the opportunity to network and engage with an offline audience.
Lor’s events and publication contribute to the rich literary community that make Melbourne a City of Literature.
The ongoing costs required to manage Lor Journal have been met by its three editors. This is the first time we have asked for financial support.
Any and all support is appreciated. To give you an idea of what your donation can do:
— $50 allows us to pay an individual writer a fee for publishing their submission on Lor Journal.
—$100 allows us to commission an interview between artists, exploring collaboration within art and literary practice.
—$200 allows us to pay readers a speaking fee for a free and inclusive literary event in Melbourne.
Your donations will allow Lor Journal to continue promoting and supporting its community of contributors, by offering them payment for their work.
