My name is Alicia Horsfield, and I am making a romantic comedy short film for my graduation project at JMC Academy. The film is called Lola Cooper Needs a Boyfriend.
My producer is Abbie Abela and we are very keen to make an amazing film, not only do we have a talented cast we have a very talented crew.
Across the next two months we are in pre-production, filming and post production with an expected finish in late September.
This film not only decides whether or not I graduate; the topics Lola Cooper covers (internalised homophobia, grief, family tension and love) are very close to home and important to me.
We believe covering topics like this will give something for our audiences to connect to in a positive light, or educate people. Often LGBT+ films are overly sexualised and follow a pattern of sad endings, our film would like to differentiate from that norm and make a more light-hearted, cute, funny film. This is a non-for-profit, locally made film in Brisbane and it would mean a lot to us if you could help out as much as you can.
What we are asking for is helping us reach our goal of $3000, whether that’s donating $1 or $10 or even just sharing this link around, all help is appreciated.
The donations will mainly be put towards production design (mainly costuming and make-up).
We also need to hire external gear like Jibs and sound equipment.
And mostly importantly feeding our crew and getting them to locations.
The end result we are hoping for is a high quality film that we can enter to film festivals around the world, and one that touches people or makes them laugh.
