Marc and Sarah have a one-way ticket to Mars. Their mission: to colonise the planet and live a Martian life, forever. But they are not alone. Winners of a public voting competition, they’re the stars of a new reality TV show, The Mars Project. Their journey is being watched by millions of people worldwide, and the cameras will never go away. Maybe the sky isn’t the limit after all.

Limit is a brave and ambitious work that experiments with bringing science fiction to the stage. It explores themes of humanity, isolation and what someone will do to survive.

Limit premieres at the Bakehouse Theatre in Adelaide from 24 Oct – 9 Nov 2019.

The driving force behind Limit is our passion to create new Australian theatre that tells a compelling story whilst also being on the forefront of creative and scientific innovation. Limit is a story of large scope; presenting a race to colonise Mars that questions our ideas of surveillance in the modern world. Following the journey of the first two people heading out into the universe in search of a new home for the human race, the play asks big questions about the nature of our existence and what can happen to people when they’re pushed beyond their limits.

In 2018 it was announced that South Australia would become the permanent headquarters for the new Australian Space Agency. The opportunity to bring a bold new work to a South Australian audience where the material is so relevant is a key part of our vision. We believe the relationship between arts and science that Limit bridges has the scope to grow audiences and broaden the local theatre going community. We need your support to help us achieve our goals.

The State Theatre Company Umbrella Program supports the work of an independent theatre company through providing in-kind marketing, technical and creative support, providing theatre makers with a platform to showcase their work. Outside of this in-kind support, funding the production is the responsibility of the independent artists. We are very grateful to have additional support from Arts South Australia and Helpmann Academy, but we still need your help!

We’re looking to raise $4000 to help us cover our marketing and promotion expenses, our insurance expenses, and some of our production costs.

Every little bit helps, and no donation is too small. So please support us by making your tax deductible donation here and helping to ensure the longevity of independent professional theatre in South Australia.
