The Lighthouse Arts Collective is a group of artists and arts workers living in Point Lonsdale. The lure of the ocean and natural environment drew us all to the region and the Collective emerged from a shared desire to create diverse artistic experiences for our community.
In 2017 we began by breathing new life into a beautiful old space that we now know as ‘New Hall’. In our inaugural year of programming we presented 14 events, collaborated with over 30 artists and welcomed more than 700 people through the doors.
Our audience are locals. But they also trek from Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate to experience the intimacy of our live music, theatre, visual art, film and poetry events.
Excitingly we now require a paid position to continue to grow and diversify our programming, while providing us with crucial administrative support. We must also invest in venue infrastructure and equipment to strengthen our reputation, enabling us to attract a wide range of artists to the region.
New Hall is a centrepiece of our regional community, offering a place to gather, engage and celebrate the power of art, culture and conversation.
The flexibility of New Hall means we can present a range of creative experiences – helping to empower local artists while enriching the lives of residents and those who travel for our events.
We have been overwhelmed with support for our vision and have proven that demand is here: our audiences are strong and growing and the strength of our programming has cemented Point Lonsdale on the artistic map.
We have achieved this by:
• volunteering our time and expertise
• ensuring the majority of ticket sales go straight to the artists we work with
• and, investing any profits back into New Hall.
Now, with your support, it’s time to grow, experiment and meet the hunger for the arts that we know runs through this incredible community of ours.
Amazingly, every dollar you donate will be matched by Creative Partnerships Australia to the value of $10,000!
The Lighthouse Arts Collective is embarking on its inaugural fundraising campaign to raise funding for three specific purposes:
1. Creating a part-time paid position for one member of the Collective to provide us with much-needed administrative support to diversify and grow our programming.
2. Investing in crucial venue infrastructure to meet the demand of our growing audience base.
3. Investing in sound and visual equipment to continue to strengthen our reputation, enabling us to attract ever more established artists and performers to the region.
Investment in these three areas will strengthen opportunities for the Lighthouse Arts Collective to contribute more greatly to the cultural landscape of our region, while also increasing our artistic presence in local festivals such as Low Light, Queenscliff Music Festival and the Queenscliff Literary Festival.
