Roll up! Roll Up! Join hands and take a giant leap into a joyous and magical world without boundaries when Access Arts takes us to the circus – with new project Leaps and Bounds.

A world of wonder, colour and hoops, Leaps and Bounds will give people with disability a safe and happy realm to grow their talent, unleash their imagination and nurture pride and confidence – all under a magic umbrella. .

Led by industry professionals including the award-winning Vulcana Women’s Circus, workshop participants will learn new skills and get fit through an electrifying fusion of dance and circus. Through the journey they will also forge new friendships and ignite fresh creativity in their daily lives.

“It’s challenging and rewarding to work with other bodies and learn how to balance, move and flow with other people,’’ says one Vulcana participant. “I find Acrobalance to be a fantastic way to develop more body awareness and strength.’’

Leaps and Bounds will culminate in a grand finale performance at Brisbane Powerhouse in December when, to mark International Day of People with Disability, workshop participants will dazzle onlookers with their new and amazing feat.

But Access Arts needs help to launch this inspirational project. Your donation will assist to fund the highly skilled artists needed to run the Leaps and Bounds workshops. As a result, your donation will help transform someone’s life and bring pleasure to their loved ones. Please help us meet our fundraising target of $4000 by June 30, 2018. Donations over $2 are tax deductible.

For 34 years Access Arts has been a leader in supporting Queensland’s most vulnerable people, empowering their personal and career skills through art, providing inspiration for their future, and bringing them together with people and communities that results in long-term transformation.

Our mission is to pioneer pathways in the arts for people experiencing disability or disadvantage. Access Arts encompasses the whole range of disadvantage, including people with mental health issues and mental illness, learning and ambulatory difficulties, hearing and vision loss, and age-related barriers that prevent them engaging with the world around them. We also address the challenges faced by First Australians by giving them the tools to express themselves, their history, and their ongoing story through art.

Access Arts proves that art has the power to change minds, transform mental health, give voice to the voiceless, and provide motivation and skills for a more optimistic future. Through art we create a more vibrant, richer and inclusive social dialogue.
