King Night follows Casey, a failed comedian who lives with her musician girlfriend, Laura. The film charts the dissolution of the couple’s relationship when Laura’s mother comes to stay, bringing with her a mysterious gift that could have horrifying consequences.
WHAT INSPIRED THE FILM?
Horror has been my favourite genre ever since I accidentally saw Scream when I was 12 years old. I’ve always found the genre to be a particularly incisive lens for exploring important societal issues.
I want to make King Night because I believe there is a serious lack of representation of LGBT stories in genre film-making.
My Influences for this film include: Perfect Blue, Kill List, Mulholland Drive, Trash Fire and Rosemary’s Baby.
WHY DO I NEED YOUR DONATION?
Filmmaking is an expensive business. Being a full-time student means we have limited access to resources/funding.
We need your help to raise $10,000 in order to cover the cost of our production
This will cover:
– Special Effects
– Visual Effects
– Festival Entry Fees
HOW DO I DONATE?
Donations made through the ACF over $2 are tax deductible. All you need to do is enter your pledge into the green box above and follow the prompts.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I DONATE?
We are currently in pre-production and will be shooting King Night in late July. The months following will be spent editing, designing sound, composing and colour grading.
The film will then premiere at The Australian Centre For The Moving Image, as part of The Victorian College of the Arts Graduate Screenings, before being sent out into the festival circuit.
