Jade of Death is a 6 part supernatural series, which follows small town girl JADE who has a powerful ability. She can hear when and how people are going to die. She ran away from her hometown and gets by working at a seedy freak show carnival as the “Fortune-Teller of Death”, but now people are after her. There’s more to her past than she lets on, and there’s more to her abilities than she knows.
Jade of Death features a remarkable cast led by Bernie Van Tiel as Jade. Van Tiel is a student of the International Screen Academy (ISA) and a multi-talented star on the rise, already an internationally renowned beatboxer and musician. The rest of the cast features a mix of emerging and established talent including Jordan Cowan (Wolf Creek 2) and Yoshi Washington, and guests such as Susan Prior (The Rover, Animal Kingdom, Muriel’s Wedding) and Sara West (Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door, The Daughter, Winter).
Where the money is going
We’re about a 3rd of the way through production of the series and have been self financing the project up till now. However, in order to complete the project, we need help to cover the below crucial costs:
$3,250 – Safety Costs
Contributes to the cost of our insurances and safety requirements for: risk assessments, cast, crew, locations and stunts in the webseries.
$2,970 – Catering
This is approximately $10 to $12 per person / day to provide a delicious and healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks for our hardworking cast and crew each shoot day.
$5,400 – Gear Hire
This is approximately $300 / day.
We have self financed purchasing the majority of our gear, however film gear is expensive and we couldn’t get it all, this is a very small amount of money to hire (at a severely discounted negotiated rate) the essential gear which will bring the series to life.
$1,080 – Wardrobe & Make-up
Approximately $90 / actor / different look
We have 9 cast to dress and make-up to fit inside the highly stylised world we have created in Jade of Death. We’re working with very resourceful team, however they still need to purchase some materials to build awesome costume pieces and the elaborate make-up of our cast.
$2,400 – Location Fees and Production Design
Approximately $300 / location
We have 9 unique locations, including a carnival! This money is required to cover location fees and all of the production design, dressings and hero props.
$755 – ACF Service Fee
Covers the ACF deduction, which is 5% of what we raise.
Costs not included in this total are: hire of post-production services and facilities or publicity and promotional costs of the series. Any money we can raise over our total goal will go towards these remaining costs. Our intention to cover any additional costs is through private investment, sponsorship and/or applying to grants. If you’re interested in sponsoring the series or becoming a private investor please contact producer: firstname.lastname@example.org
