Innocence and Corruption

FilmHarmonia is bringing the darker side of film, game and stage music to the fore in our upcoming concert on October 26th, 2019. Join us as we descend into the seventh circle and explore the temptation found there.

Days Left

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you…

The film music journey that ‘Take One’ began in October 2018 continues through some of the most intense tales of fallen heroes that have been witnessed on stage and screen, including ‘The Phantom Menace’, ‘The Two Towers’, ‘The Godfather’ and ‘One-Winged Angel’. To better serve this purpose, we are moving from The Tramsheds to Balmain Town Hall and joining forces with a choir to fully embrace the power and tragedy in this music. This move does cost us more but is one we believe audiences will appreciate and so we are asking for your help.

Operating as a not-for-profit organisation (NFP) with the sole purpose of bringing quality (and often lesser-heard) film and game music to the public, we rely solely upon the continued interest and generosity of our audiences to continue functioning.

Our first two concerts have completely sold out (including standing room) which proved the need to make the move to a larger venue.

As we move forward, the orchestra is also looking to secure quality percussion instruments for Innocence and Corruption and future concerts, especially given how critical the percussion section is to creating the intensity and drama in this music. A quality drumkit is a necessary investment and any remaining funds will be put towards specialised equipment such as bodhrans and other auxiliary percussion which are frequently called upon in film and game repertoire.

$3000 in donations will allow us to completely cover venue and percussion hire for the concert and begin investing in our own percussion resources. This, in turn, allows a larger audience to discover the quality music that we are bringing to Sydney audiences off the screen and into the concert hall for the thrill of live performance. This music brings people together through memories and shared experience. We invite you to be part of the shared experience that will bring this music to other people too. The support of all donors will be gratefully acknowledged in the program and on our website.

Live Projects

Film and video game music pursues the same goal as all meaningful art: to present a perspective on the human condition that stimulates and connects with audiences on an intellectual and emotional level. Firmly believing in the artistic merit of this genre, The FilmHarmonia Orchestra was established in 2018 as a not-for-profit ensemble in order to bring musicians together to perform works of incidental music from a range of media platforms including, but not limited to, film and game soundtracks. FilmHarmonia’s mission is to raise appreciation of screen music, promote cross-cultural traditions in the genre and foster a greater understanding of it by providing a platform for quality performances readily accessible by the musicians and audiences of the Greater Sydney Region.
