With only nightmares for childhood memories, Lily Stone returns to her family home to find out what happened to her parents. Despite the locals’ warnings about an evil presence cursing the house, Lily crosses the threshold and discovers not all the ghosts that haunt us are dead. Inheritance is an exploration of fear, family and identity.
Cinema Viscera is proud to announce we have partnered with Creative Partnerships Australia for this fundraising campaign. Every dollar donated by you will be matched dollar for dollar through MATCH Lab. Your support will enable us to finish our second feature, Inheritance.
Horror can hold a spooky funhouse mirror up to society, reflecting where we are and what we are currently facing. Inheritance’s complex leads are women searching for their place and identity in a changing world, while kicking butt and looking out for each other. It’s an exploration of family, the one we are born into and the one we create – and not being doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
With our shoot budget already secured, a script we are excited about and key cast attached, we are seeking finishing funds to create a unique contemporary gothic horror, while working toward creating a sustainable model for independent filmmakers to produce and screen their work. With our first feature, Trench, we began to forge a new distribution pathway for micro-budget features and plan to build upon this with Inheritance.
We at Cinema Viscera are dedicated to making new Australian genre films that have maximum emotional and visceral impact and a social conscience, while creating strong and prominent roles for women, in front and behind the camera. We have already produced a feature film that is about to be self-distributed and are excited to keep making films. We are not just working toward one project, but building a production company and creating a new model for producing and distributing our work, with the aim of building a new sustainable model for Australian independent film makers.
With your support, we will not only be able to finish our second feature film, including sound and picture editing, sound design, VFX and the creation of an original score, but we will be working toward building a sustainable independent film company and continue to develop a release and distribution pathway that will widen audiences and make sure independent features get seen.
We are so excited about our new Australian gothic horror picture and with your help, we will be able to see it all the way through post production and bring it to the screen.
Thanks in advance for your support.
