It’s been an interesting few years since you may have heard from us. As well as spending some time in low power mode, we have continued to work away, creating and collaborating on several projects, big and small.

We’ve worked with UK company Punchdrunk on Festival 2018 Gold Coast. We’ve continued our partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse, bringing early years arts experiences by local artists to tens of thousands of Brisbane families.

But more recently, we have been planning our next major project.

Timing is always a tricky thing, but 2020 has been something else entirely.

After years of planning, development and partnership building, we are about ready to unveil our latest work.

As it turns out, getting this done in the middle of a global pandemic is proving to be difficult. If you know us, you won’t be surprised when we tell you that we’re not giving up. We’re too close to turning our dream into a reality to stop now.

So here we are, asking for your help.

Over the next few weeks, we are asking for 20 of our supporters to give a tax deductible donation of $200 to support the production of our new work, The Incredible Telling Machine, a (COVID safe) immersive experience for intergenerational audiences aged 8+ set to premiere in September 2020.

We know that the generosity of our community can help us fill a crucial gap in our production budget, allowing us to realise this project at the extraordinary level we know we are capable of.

The thing is, it’s a bit of a secret and we don’t want to spoil the surprise. Here is what we can tell you so far.

“Enter The Incredible Telling Machine and experience the hidden secrets of mechanical wonder.

Lost for a century, this collection of intriguing storytelling machines is the life’s work of a virtuosic Australian artist and inventor Celeste Mackellen, an obscure figure who disappeared along with the machines she built.

Fascinated by Mackellan’s mysterious disappearance, a consortium of collectors have worked with creatives from Imaginary Theatre to locate, extract and faithfully restore these machines to their former glory. They are now sharing her work and story with the world.

Mackellan’s magnum opus is The Incredible Telling Machine, an immersive storytelling device that tells extraordinary tales to audiences of children and adults, four at a time.

Visit The Incredible Telling Machine and experience the wonder of its interactive radio-play like stories as they unfold, shaped by your decisions, as you interact with the machine via old-world electronic control panels.

This project will be nothing short of incredible. Your support will make our machine tick.

If you’d like to know more, get in touch with us directly. We’d love to catch up for a chat.
