Gut Feeling is a story about courage and self love. We’re making it because we want to encourage our girlfriends to thrust forwards, to claim their space and trust themselves.
Liv, our central character, is a 28 year old Sydney woman in advertising who hasn’t listened to her gut in years.
When it looks like her long-term boyfriend Luke is going to propose, Liv suddenly has a freak accident. When she regains consciousness, she hears a voice coming from her gut. Meet Uta: Liv’s intuition personified.
Over the course of 3 x 10 minute episodes, Liv and Uta must learn how to listen to each other. Uta must learn that she can’t be the only driving force in Liv – sometimes intellect must prevail. Meanwhile Liv learns that she has an enormous inner resource.
Director Hattie Archibald is making the project as her ‘Final Project’ for her Masters in Directing at the Australian Film Television and Radio School.

WHY MAKE THIS SERIES?
Gut Feeling is being made as an antidote to the low self esteem epidemic that niggles away at many of the women we love.
Throughout the development of the project writer Bridie Connell, producer Emily Bull, and director Hattie have exchanged endless personal stories of moments where women in our lives – ourselves included – haven’t backed ourselves.
This fun, feel-good series will get audiences out of their heads and into their bodies. It’s offering is a perspective shift. It will remind audiences that we have more inside us that we can draw on. We have our beautiful minds, and we also have our intuition.
This is also the start of something BIG. The Gut Feeling team are going places. This series offers our team the opportunity to prove we can deliver entertaining, heartfelt content. We hope to leverage the series to secure more paid work in our respective roles in the future.
HOW DONATIONS WILL BE USED:
Donations will be used to pay for the significant costs involved in production. While we are enormously grateful for the $21,000 we have raised so far – and for all the volunteers who have already committed their time and expertise to the project – creating 30 minutes of screen content is an expensive exercise.
We are looking to raise money to cover:
– location fees to shoot around Sydney
– catering costs so we can feed our volunteers
– equipment hire for particular gear we can’t access through AFTRS
– some specialised crew roles we can’t find volunteers to fill
– art department costs
Even if we are successful in raising our target goal through the ACF, we sadly still won’t be able to pay our key crew or actors. Any funds we raise above our target goal will be allocated in the first instance to paying actors.
