Forest Collective comes forth into 2018 invigorated and excited to put our best foot forward with a new website, refreshed logo, wonderful additions to our volunteer admin team, and a brilliant ensemble – the first time we’ve ever had a core ensemble to tantalise and exhilarate throughout our 2018 season.
Forest Collective is a not for profit arts organisation focusing on contemporary classical music. We commission, create, and present various art forms, often giving independent artists a platform to develop their practice and reach new audiences, within a supportive environment.
Forest Collective is run by a volunteer team of creative, young professionals who strive to enrich audiences though multidisciplinary, innovative, collaborative, experimental, and traditional art forms from new, early and mid career artists. We pride ourselves on giving a voice to underperformed and underrepresented creators and composers.
Forest Collective’s biggest challenge is our pride – pride in our local creative community; pride in the artists, musicians, designers, performers we meet everyday; pride in the faceless individuals working to keep many of our cultural icons and venues alive; pride in each other as we sit alongside you at recitals, concerts, performances and exhibitions; and pride in ourselves as we present what we hope will be thought provoking and enjoyable performances. Regardless of the difficulties that face the contemporary art and creative culture in Australia, Forest Collective strives to connect audiences with creative practitioners and to make a lasting impact in Melbourne’s cultural community. We want to provide welcoming, inclusive, safe spaces for the development of, participation and engagement with, and attendance of our projects. We will achieve this at affordable preview concerts advertised for audiences with and without a learning disability as a safe live music environment.
Funds raised will allow us to continue commissioning new, important pieces of contemporary music, premiering exciting pieces from all over the world, partnering with interesting guest musicians to create evocative concerts, and fairly compensating our wonderful ensemble throughout the year. Throughout 2018, we invite you to join us at our events to experience the full spectrum of our talents!
At Forest Collective we are indebted to the generosity of individuals and organisations that have ensured our continued operation. We count ourselves lucky to be working with creatives from a range of fields, bringing a variety of art concepts and practices to Melbourne. In 2018, Forest Collective is Ensemble in Residence at Tempo Rubato and are proud to have iconic organisations as partners and sponsors.
Forest Collective acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, meet, create, and perform – primarily Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation.
