Ensemble Apex | 2018 Season

Ensemble Apex will present a diverse and exciting program throughout 2018. This year we are collaborating with dancers, young soloists and presenting new and well loved Australian music.

Days Left

Ensemble Apex will open their 2018 season featuring Anna Da Silva Chen (4th year Sydney Con) performing Shostakovich’s thrilling 1st Violin Concerto as well as a World Premiere of a collection of Sinfionetta’s by Australian Composer Nicholas Vines.

In the second half of the year we collaborate with dancers from the Sydney Dance Company to present a unique and exciting production of Bartok’s Miraculous Mandarin. This concert will also feature collaborations with Sydney’s up-and-coming young composers presenting immersive, interactive compositions.

Our final concert coinciding with our second birthday will present a jazz inspired program with works by Gershwin, Adams, Koehne and Marquez including a world class soloist.

Ensemble Apex is unique in that it is completely run by students and not affiliated with any larger organizations. Directed by Sam Weller, the orchestra is governed by a small board musicians.

The main focus of Ensemble Apex is to create unique concerts that will intrigue people from a wide range of demographics in order to expand an appreciation of classical music throughout the community. For that reason, two of our three main season concerts are completely free. Unfortunately as we provide free concerts and are a student run orchestra we need financial support from our patrons to ensure the extremely high quality of our concerts are maintained. Your donations to Ensemble Apex no matter how big or small will contribute to the cost of hiring our music and developing our promotional campaigns.
