Kitty Xiao is an Australian composer, pianist and collaborative artist. Kitty is founder, composer and pianist of Nimbus Trio. Kitty has released her first album Novum with Nimbus Trio as a represented artist of Move Records label and the group look forward to their debut at Melbourne Recital Centre this year. In 2017 Kitty formed the Six Piano Collective and is Artistic Director of the Six Piano Project. Kitty has recently launched a new pop up concert series NoiseSense that engage new music of young composers with the culture of the city.

Studying at Eastman School of Music is an opportunity for Kitty to further develop her skills as a composer and meet like minded musicians and artists determined to create innovative ways of thinking, composing and performing new music.
Long regarded as one of the world’s premiere schools of music, Kitty will have the opportunity to study with esteemed composition faculty members including David Liptak, Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, Robert Morris, Oliver Schneller. Kitty hopes that her new experiences abroad will provide a network for Australian and U.S composers to further engage in collaboration and artistic projects.
MMus (Composition) is a two year course at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. The cost of the 2018-2019 academic year is $43,420, the cost of 2019-2020 will be slightly higher.
Kitty has been fortunate enough to receive a graduate award of 9 credits out of 24 credits per year ($15,030 for 2018-2019). This means she still needs to source approximately $50,000 in tuition fees. The Australian Cultural Fund is one platform that she will be using to help raise the funds.
