Dark Points is an immersion into simultaneous evolving threads bound to sound, movement and light. Ten dancers will intersect with the space as the sonic landscape evolves around them. Tape loops and textural drones, performed live each night, bring an element of indeterminacy to the performance as the choreography and sound respond to one another in real time. Prepare for the decay and disintegration of the environment around you.
Dark Points is the premier production of new experimental performance company Die Angle.
Produced by Tom Backhaus and hosting an outstanding team of emerging artists and collaborators, the project provides a unique opportunity for unconventional interdisciplinary collaboration.
Thalia Livingstone draws upon her experience in the field of architecture to redefine space and structure through movement and bodies. Film composer Mitchell Mackintosh’s cinematic, textural sound worlds ebb and flow with evolving bodies as the space expands and contracts.
Imbued with John Collopy’s ethereal lighting design and bespoke costume by Aislinn Naughton, the fleeting world of dark points exists only as an ephemeral moment, an intersection of creative urges precipitated into three performances.
The funds raised through this campaign will be put towards venue, costume and production costs. The venue for Dark Points is essential to the atmospheric vision of our show. This specificity required as a location has raised costs, however we are beyond excited to have the Mycelium Studios basement as our show venue. Hiring Mycelium is by far the largest production expense.
Our costume designer has undertaken the bold task of designing and sewing costumes for 10 dancers. Funding will also go toward the hire of lighting equipment. Presented in September 2019 at Mycelium Studios, we will offer you Dark Points for three nights. Alongside the live performance, DIE ANGLE will use the material to produce a dance film in a further iteration of this collaboration.
