We are asking for your help to invest in the creation of Cosmic Ballroom and the opportunity to perform in one of Europe’s most renowned festivals.
As a swirling container of movement that is multi-dimensional, Cosmic Ballroom will aim to awaken the thickness and dynamism of the ballroom. It will ponder the public and private and the personal and interpersonal as tonal zones that radiate and contaminate. How might movement be like a virus in this context? How might space-times be playfully spilling across and infecting one another from the baroque ballroom to the post-industrial club space?
Choreographer James Batchelor will lead the process in collaboration with four performers from Australia, Germany, UK and Italy, composer Morgan Hickinbotham and Creative Producer Bek Berger. We are seeking funds to support this project in development in Berlin before the premiere in Belgium in 2020.
Cosmic Ballroom is a giant leap for us. We are independently making a work of scale with an international team of artists. As we lead up to the premiere in December 2020 we are aiming to have at least four weeks of studio development.
Cosmic Ballroom will have extraordinary impact on the development of our careers if we are able to make the most of this opportunity. We are asking our supporters, family and friends to help us make the best possible work we can for this context, facilitating creative development and residency periods in the lead up to the presentation.
Your donation will go directly towards facilitating the creative development of Cosmic Ballroom, specifically for paying artist wages, which as a team of freelance artists is incredibly important.
Donations to Cosmic Ballroom are tax deductible and will be matched dollar for dollar through the Creative Partnerships Australia MATCH LAB program. This means if we reach our target of A$10,000, we will receive a matched A$10,000 towards Cosmic Ballroom creative development.
This would fully fund two weeks of precious time in the studio with the creative team and help pay for our design materials.
