Bel a cappella, under the direction of Anthony Pasquill, believes that new Australian choral music can certainly match the depth and breadth of that being composed and performed in the traditional choral music countries of northern Europe.

This fund will be applied to commission 3 new Australian choral works to take on our 2021 international tour, showcasing Australian a cappella music to to the world

We are commissioning 3 a cappella choral works works of 5-8 minutes each for up to 8 voice parts (SSAATTBB).

Each commissioned work will have its world premiere in one of the cities in the 2021 tour (to be chosen by the composer), including St Petersburg, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallin and Riga.

Their Australian premiere will be at the next concert Bel performs on our return to Australia.

The campaign is open for 90 days and we need your help to ensure our fund raising target is achieved.

Our target of $5000 will fund 3 works which we will choose during 2020 by way of a composition competition, judged by a panel of experts.

Bel a cappella is a chamber choir of 25-30 experienced singers who are dedicated to the performance of diverse, high quality choral music in fine venues.

The choir has an extensive repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to twentieth-century music. Our concerts are designed to appeal to those who are new to the world of choral music as well as those who already enjoy the choral repertoire and seek to further explore it and hear it at its best.

Although we specialise in a cappella repertoire, we regularly perform with piano, organ or small ensembles to offer a variety of musical experiences for our growing audiences.

“The singers of Sydney-based choir Bel a cappella are sterling representatives of the great tradition of amateur music making in this country and their season opener demonstrated outstanding ambition and commitment to composers old and new, international and home-grown.”
