A transgender teenager, two paths and two potentially very different outcomes!
Jessie is a transgender teenager, he is about to come out to his family. Nina, Jessie’s mum takes us on a journey along two paths, exploring the choices that parents, teachers and society can make regarding this and how those choices can affect the life of a transgender teen and in this case Jessie.
Set in the South West of Western Australia this short film “Choice” aims to raise awareness around mental health issues in transgender people through story telling.
The film has been written, will be directed by and produced by the mother of a transgender teenager. The majority of the production team and crew is comprised of very passionate and talented women which we think is awesome because women are very much under represented in the screen industry.
Mental health issues and suicide unfortunately all to commonly affect not only transgender people but many LGBTQI people here is Australia and around the world.
A recent Telethon Kids Institute survey showed a 48% suicide rate in transgender youth compared to a 2.4 % suicide rate in youth who do not identify as transgender.
100% of all donations will go towards our pre production, production and post production cost for our short film “Choice”. A short film is very costly and we need all we can get to bring this project to life! Once the film has been made and post production is finished we will be entering it into film festivals in Australia and around the world. All donors will be able to view the film once we have completed the festival rounds.
