Chloe Black is a 45 year old transgender comedian living in Hobart, Tasmania. Having only come out to her friends and family 2 years ago she has actually been performing stand up comedy for over 15 years. She’s written a new show and hopes to take it to Adelaide Fringe Festival 2018.
Her comedy has been praised by both straight and queer audiences alike and this show is aimed at both straight allies and sexuality and gender diverse people everywhere. I hope to raise funds for the hire of a venue, flights, poster printing and promotion. The timeline for this show would be October 2017.
This project is important for many reasons. Firstly I think it offers fresh and positive representation for the transgender community. As an active member of the LGBTQIA community I think it is important to be a role model and to stand proud as an artist/performer from a diverse background. The show explores a number of Trans issues, both personal and political, all the while being hilarious.
As a single parent and full time student, funding of a project like this is virtually impossible. That’s why I need your help to take it to Adelaide Fringe Festival next year. The goal I have set is $5000 to cover registration, flights, venue hire as well as poster/ flyer printing and distribution. The show will be having its first trial run at the Backspace Theatre on the 4th of July 2017.
Donations will be used to purchase flights, venure hire, registration, posters, flyers and distrbution. This project is hoping to have a most amazing season in Adelaide which will be the perfect place to network and promote, and to hopefully take the show interstate to Perth Fringeworld, Melbourne Comedy Festival and eventually overseas to Edinburgh. The show is currently in a trial-production phase and more can be found out at my facebook page or checking local comedy listings.
