Melbourne’s Chitra squeezes the juice out of folk, indie-rock and pop and turns it into a zesty new taste of woozy intimacy. Coming out of 2020 she has gathered a collection of songs to record and release in 2021.

With 2020 being the rollercoaster it has been, Chitra has been honing in on her songwriting craft with plans to release an album next year. The timeline would include recording start or mid 2021 and releasing mid or end of next year.

With donations she is hoping to work with people she has always wanted to work with from musicians to producers. This will enrich the process as well as the outcome.

The project will result in trying new things, experimenting with sound and expanding relationships with other creatives to bring it together.

Melbourne’s Chitra squeezes the juice out of folk, indie-rock and pop and turns it into a zesty new taste of woozy intimacy. Singer-songwriter Chitra Ridwan shines, mastering her unique sound that refuses to conform to one specific genre – gleaning elements from across a musical canvas while her timeless voice anchors her songs firmly in the present.

Chitra’s effortlessly cool energy and endearing magnetism emerges from her definiteness to remain wholly herself in her writing and music, making work that is deeply grounded in the honesty of her day to day. She represents a strong and free thinking creative emerging within Australian culture that strives for creative authenticity rather than conventional milestones of the past.

In the last couple of years Chitra has played alongside artists such as Julia Jacklin, RVG, Cousin Tonys Brand New Firebird and Gena Rose Bruce. She has also played The Drop Festival alongside Angus and Julia Stone and Client Liason. Releasing her debut Ep at the start of 2020 she now works on an album set to be released next year in 2021.
