I am Brisbane-based classically-trained Soprano and have recently completed a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU). I also received the University Medal for my academic achievement. Throughout my time as a student I have sought out many opportunities to progress my arts practice and gain experience as a singer.
As a young Australian singer, the opportunity to travel overseas to study at the Royal Academy of Music is extremely exciting. Completing a Masters in classical voice will provide me with the opportunity to further develop my skills as a singer and progress in this competitive career path.
When I auditioned in London in December last year, I instantly felt connected to the Academy and knew that it would be the best place for me to develop as an artist.
This intensive program provides singers, who have completed their undergraduate training, with the opportunity to further develop their skills before advancing as industry professionals. The Academy is considered to be one of the leading music conservatoires in the world and I am very fortunate to have been awarded a place there. This intensive course provides students with a wide range of performance opportunities, workshops, masterclasses, lectures and lessons meaning that I will have a very busy schedule. At the Academy, I will participate in lessons and repertoire coaching, vocal technique classes, language classes, opera coaching, opera scenes, stagecraft lessons, acting and movement classes, as well as a course in vocal teaching.
At the end of the two-year Masters I hope that I will have bridged the gap between study and the musical profession and will be ready to commence a career in the arts.
Whilst I did receive a partial scholarship from the Academy, the fees for international students are incredibly high. Living in London is also very expensive with living costs and additional course-related expenses estimated at around £20,000 per year. I have been working hard to save as much as I can and have applied for many grants and scholarships, but am now asking for your support to help me towards achieving my singing goals. All funds raised here will go towards supporting the first year of my studies so that I can get the most out of my experience in London.
Thank you so much!
