Brunswick Nature Sculpture Walk is a triennial sculpture event held from September the 28th to October the 2nd 2018 in the regional town of Brunswick Heads. We are a Not for Profit organisation of community members, and artists.
BNSW is bringing nationally recognised artists to work with local artists and community, creating works from the popular to the conceptually demanding. Artists will make site specific works and run workshops to raise awareness of the dangers facing this delicate ecosystem. It is a free, grassroots event, developed to be sensitive to the environment. Sculptors, performers, artists, community and visitors are able to respond to site specific art and contribute to its evolving nature.
Our project is important as it provides much needed opportunities for regional artists. Artists often contribute their time for free. We want to give back to artists and this crowdfunding will help us do that.
We also want community groups and visitors to be able to interact with artists in the exhibition. We are holding various free workshops, performances and artist talks to facilitate this. There are also guided tours and information from local environment groups such as Byron Bird Buddies, Landcare and Dune Care specialists.
This diverse landscape has wetlands, coastal scrub, rivers, ocean dunes and open parklands lending itself to sculptural installations that raise awareness to place and connect community through Art and Nature.
The donations will be used to fund artist travel, freight and general costs. All the money will go to artists involved. We believe artists should be paid for what they bring to our lives and community. You can find out more about this project at brunswicknaturesculpturewalk.com/history
