ONE LAST BONUS MONTH!

Our crowd funding  campaign ended on July 1st

but ACF have extended us for one last month.

The Bruce Goold Movie desperately wants  to achieve its original target,  so now you have until the end of this July to contribute to this wonderful film about one of Australia’s greatest living legends – Bruce Goold.

BRUCE GOOLD: LIFE & TIMES & ART is a documentary about Bruce Goold’s fascinating voyage through 50 years of post war Australian Art.

Please help bring it to life. It has all been shot and the footage takes us on a fascinating journey – from the Bohemian days in the infamous Yellow House to grand hotel renovations on Lord Howe Island, to the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House, to Sydney Lady Mayor’s own collection in her town hall office.

Once it’s all edited it will incorporate interviews of Bruce at work,  archival film and photos of some great times and exotic people. Plus some fine pieces of art,  stories and wonderful conversations that will help weave a path through his dynamic and colourful career in the 60, 70′ 80’s and still going today – 50 years of Australian art.

Some of the contributors to the colourful discussions are: Dare Jennings, Rachel Ward & Bryan Brown, Hayley Baillie, David Elfick, Ian Kiernan, Cressida Campbell, George Gittoes, Greg Weight, Jeremy Thomas, Phil Whistler, Nancy Goold and Wendy Whiteley.

The Call to Action – Post Production

We now have 34 interviews that need to be edited with music and a powerful narration. The imagery of Bruce’s work will be treated with computer graphic work (CGI) and the colours graded to their original intentions. We are raising funds so that we can bring this all together into a one hour Arts Program for Australian and international interests. A website will also be created to incorporate the many hours of information from the interviews that will not be able to fit within the one hour program.

We invite you to be a part of preserving Bruce’s vibrant past and contribution to the Australian art landscape.

Bill is incredibly excited about completing this arts doco on Bruce Goold. He has been producing film and television for over 25 years and this one on Bruce is one of his favourites.

Over the past twelve months Bill has devoted spare weekends and holidays chasing and filming 34 different devotees to Bruce’s work. He wants to tell the story of Bruce’s incredible art career through the joy of those who have been given, or bought or commissioned his work over the past 50 years.

Bill wants to tell the story through the voices of the paintings and fabrics that are pride of place in homes around the world. There will be art and wit and yarns and even some bad jokes, but Bill wants it to be as interesting as it is entertaining.

Bill’s last film was a comedy, “DEPARTURE LOUNGE: A Bollywood Affair”, selected as AACTA’s Best ‘Social Short’ Comedy of 2015. But he can be terribly serious as well – In 2010, he produced the critically acclaimed and box office hit, World War I epic, BENEATH HILL 60, which received 12 AFI nominations including Best Film, Best Director and Best Script.

After university in California, Bill trained at Film School in London, later working with the BBC, and the UK film industry for ten years, before moving his production company to Australia in the 1980s. From Sydney he has produced over 25 films – features, documentary and arts programs – for National Geographic, Discovery, PBS, BBC, ABC and SBS and Australian commercial TV networks 7, 9 and 10.

He has a great post production team (editor, grader, narrator, writer, sound mixer, music, CGI experts) ready to go ahead with Bruce’s film, to make a great solid arts program from the 34 interviews (with fans, celebrities, art dealers, agents) and miles of video with Bruce at work.

Bill wants the film to capture Bruce’s life through his devoted followers and live forever in the history of Australian Art. Bill says this is an important film about a great Australian artist that needs to be told.
