BOAA is raising funds to pay Australian artist fees to create new work for BOAA. Money will help with production, transport and accommodation for artists. BOAA is committed to raising enough money to pay artists fees.

The inaugural BOAA – Biennale of Australian Art – will be presented in the Regional Victorian town of Ballarat, 21 Sep – 6 Nov 2018.

BOAA is a festival of visual Arts showcasing the diversity of Australian Art.

BOAA will present 150 artists from across Australia with equal representation from each state and territory join Ballarat artists under the 9th State banner.

BOAA is based on the European style Biennale, creating a destination whole of town experience.

BOAA will tell Australian stories; stories of our past, present and future, reflecting what it means to be Australian today. It will have a strong Aboriginal focus as well as celebrating our multiculturalism.

What:
BOAA will be a major festival of visual art showcasing over 150 of Australia’s most innovative contemporary artists. BOAA will tell Australian stories, stories of our past, present and future. It will reflect what it means to be Australian today. It will have a strong Aboriginal focus as well as celebrating our multiculturalism. It will be an exhibition that marks our time and place within history.

Where:
Ballarat will come alive with both large and intimate scaled projects across Ballarat, providing exciting daytime and night-time experiences.

Why:
Ballarat is well placed to host Victoria’s most significant art event. BOAA will showcase Ballarat as an an innovative exciting community willing to be seen on the national and international stage.

Who:
This project has been developed by Julie Collins-djprojects a multi arts service provider. Julie’s experience is varied including as Curator/Artist Director of the Lorne Sculpture Biennale between 2011-2016.
