The past 5 years playing professionally has been filled with many opportunities to develop and grow as a musician. I have a clear vision and I know what I want to achieve as both a performer and educator. Now is the perfect time for me to dive back into study and begin the next chapter of my career.
The Royal Northern College of Music is based in Manchester, England, the home and heart of brass banding around the world. It is here that Steven Mead and David Thornton have been teaching for a combined total of over 40 years, building an international reputation for the RNCM as one of the best places in the world to study euphonium. Students travel from all over the world to study here, and many go on to become leading euphonium performers and educators in their respective countries. I will be the 2nd Australian ever to study a Masters on euphonium at this prestigious school.
Manchester’s rich history and culture of brass banding means I will be in the middle of the action, and be exposed to many opportunities not currently available in Australia.
As an international student, I have to pay the course fees up front before I can begin the program. This is where I need your help. Even with a scholarship and bursary I received from the college, there is still close to 20,000 pounds I have to pay. The funds I raise here will be the final push I need to get me over the line and much needed support to springboard me into a rewarding Masters and future career as an artist.
My own savings have and will cover my travel costs, visa costs, living costs and a large portion of the course fees.
I have worked hard to make this plan come to fruition and I am very passionate about what I do. I can’t wait to spend the time overseas taking that next step in my career and I hope in the future I can bring my knowledge home and contribute to the Australian community.
