MZAZA is an award-winning music ensemble featuring talented musicians and seasoned community engagement practitioners who are looking forward to bringing music, workshops and genuine connection to fire-affected communities in November and December 2020.
After a difficult few months of lost income, cancelled tours and delayed releases due to Covid-19 restrictions, this project will also enable MZAZA to get back on the road and extend our existing Queensland program to connect with metropolitan and regional audiences in NSW and Victoria.
Your support for this campaign will go a long way! Thanks to being selected for the Creative Partnerships Australia’s ACF Boost program, donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000.
Your generous donations will contribute to fees, transport and accommodation for the six touring musicians. Workshops in fire affected areas and admission to concerts will be kept accessible to people in financial difficulty.
We are passionate about bringing impactful stories, inspiring music and meaningful engagement that has a long term positive impact on individuals and communities. The chance to contribute to fire-affected communities is particularly important to us as we saw the impact on communities first-hand on tour and when a member of MZAZA was personally affected by the fires on her property in NSW.
With a focus on humanity and connection, MZAZA’s show ‘The Birth and Death of Stars’ is the perfect entertainment to bring to these communities. Based on MZAZA’s third album of the same name, the show and its award-nominated soundtrack draw inspiration from history’s philosophers and astronomers to explore what links us to each other and the world around us. Singing, music and storytelling workshops will cater for a range of community members and will celebrate community resilience.
The producing team behind this show have been working together since 2004 to bring compelling sounds and stories to audiences. With their combined experience they have toured orchestras and bands across continents, designed powerful community engagement programs, and collaborated with inspiring artists in Australia and abroad.
Any additional funds donated beyond our target will go towards connecting with more communities on this tour.
We thank you for your donations and support and look forward to continuing to do what we do best – sharing stories, skills and music.
