Evocative, melodic, creative and poetic, Stuart is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter who creates a wondrous mix of Contemporary Folk, Jazz Blues and World Music, beautiful songs and sensational instrumentals.

In September 2017, Stuart completed his second international tour, with performances in NYC, London, Amsterdam, Hamburg, regional Germany and festivals in the UK, Netherlands and Germany. The solo tour was a great success, receiving fantastic responses from audiences everywhere and excellent concert reviews in Germany.

He has been invited back to Europe for concert and festival performances in Germany and the Netherlands in May, June and July 2018, including a songwriters’ concert series in Westfalen and a performance at the famous Concerto record store in Amsterdam to promote his new album ATMOSPHERE.

Consolidating on his successful, 18-week international solo tour
in 2017, partly funded by an Australian Cultural Fund campaign, Stuart has the opportunity to return to Europe in 2018, with concert and festival bookings already secured in Germany, the Netherlands and UK.

Professional development and growth are key to this ongoing success. Stuart has been in a teaching and mentoring program with one of the best musicians and guitarists in the world, JIm Campilongo, who is based in Brooklyn, New York City. Jim’s CV includes working with Norah Jones, Martha Wainwright, and is an acclaimed instrumentalist in his own right. Stuart hopes to return to NYC for more mentoring sessions with Jim, who is helping take his musicianship and career to the next level.

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

Even better, Stuart is one of 25 artist from around Australia selected for the MatchLab program, which means that every dollar donated to this Australian Cultural Fund project will be matched dollar for dollar by Creative Partnerships Australia.

Evocative, melodic, creative and poetic, Stuart Rose is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter who creates a wondrous mix of Contemporary Folk, Jazz Blues and World Music, beautiful songs and sensational instrumentals.

With warm smoky vocals, guitars, bouzouki, flutes, didgeridoo and loops, his original and improvisational style creates uniquely soulful music. Having explored many different genres of music, Stuart’s compositions now graft and blend musical styles, developing fusions that intersect generic boundaries – be that a Jazz guitar break and flute solo in an Alt-Country song, for example, or moving between, even combining Western & Eastern music, including Celtic, Appalachian, Andalusian, Latin and Aegean traditions.

In September 2017, he completed his second international tour, with solo performances in NYC, London, Amsterdam, Hamburg, regional Germany and festivals in the UK, Netherlands and Germany. After initially touring in the UK and Europe as three-piece band The Moor Rose in 2013, this second international tour was a great success, receiving wonderful reviews and he will be returning to Europe in 2018.

Other performance highlights include: sold out shows at Adelaide Guitar Festival, WOMADelaide – performing with Heather Frahn, and Adelaide Fringe Festival (5 out of 5 star reviews), to name a few.

Releases include: SEEDS OF SONGS EP (The Moor Rose, 2011) – “utterly enthralling…combines traditions magnificently” (Leicester Bangs UK); DIVINE RESONANCE (2012) by Harmonic Project – album co-produced with Heather Frahn, received ABC RN airplay; HEARSAY EP (The Moor Rose, 2013) – “rich musical tapestries… punchy and passionate” (FolkWorld, Germany); DESERTS & DALES EP (solo, 2017); and a new album ATMOSPHERE is in production for release in May 2018, ahead of his next international tour.

PRESS AND TESTIMONIALS:

“An exciting evening of music” – Werner Lauterbach, Westfälischer Anzeiger

“What we heard was his lyrics and favoured music genres, which are as diverse as his instrumental presentation. It’s the melody, replaced by poetry, exchanged for exoticism. All those fields wrapped up in dense atmosphere were true music enjoyment.” – Lö, Westfälischer Anzeiger

“A master of sounds.” – Reinhard Potschinski, Music aus aller Welt, Germany.

“His performances were excellent – audiences were highly impressed and moved by his musicianship and compositions.” Brigitte Rennie, The Mosaic Cat, UK.

“Wondrous.” – Ian Newton, Rip It Up magazine.
