A national tour of Australia, presenting concerts playing original music I have composed for solo piano from my new album AKASHA. (released 26.11.16)

Days Left

I am raising funds to tour all 6 states of Australia, presenting concerts playing original music for solo piano from my new album AKASHA.

I will also be visiting schools to give concerts and workshops to students throughout the tour.

I am very excited to present concerts playing music I have written and sharing the stories behind the music, especially to younger students of music, and in particular young pianists. I would like to encourage young people to write music and share their compositions on a public platform.

I will have special guests at most of these performances sharing the stage with me playing music I have composed.

As an Australian pianist and composer, I am keen to promote new Australian music particularly that of female composers and to inspire more young people to write and perform their own original music.

The music I write is highly listenable and melodic, some of it is virtuosic but mostly it is intended to celebrate the beauty and exquisite sound of the notes and the silence around the sounds of the modern day grand piano.

Donations will be used to fund the hiring of venues, travel costs and extensive admin costs to organise a tour of up to 30 dates throughout Australia over the course of 2017.

To follow the journey follow or social media sites such as Facebook/Twitter/Instagram (ambrehammond)

I look forward to sharing the music I have written with the people of Australia, and hopefully bringing smiles to faces everywhere as I share my music and stories with them!

Highlights of my career have included the following:
In 1989, at age 11, I became the youngest person to receive the AMEB Associate and Licentiate Diplomas of Music in the same year – a world record which I still hold.

At 16, I received the First Prize in an International Music Competition held in Argentina. The following year I was invited to return to perform and record the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 which was acclaimed by the Rachmaninoff Society of the USA as one of the 3 finest recordings ever made by a female pianist alongside Martha Argerich and Gina Bachauer.

In 2007 legendary Hollywood film composer, Lalo Schifrin, wrote and dedicated to me the Double Concerto for Classical Piano and Jazz Trumpet. I performed its world premiere Sydney Opera House alongside James Morrison and Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

In 2011, I performed a concert at the Opera House with Grammy winner, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, the Indian legendary slide guitarist.

I have performed both solo and with Orchestras throughout Switzerland, UK, Italy, Spain, Poland, North and South America, NZ and China.

I have released 4 CDs – Devotion (1994) – Music by Franz Liszt; Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3 (1995); Reverie (2009); Oblivion (2012) – Music by Piazzolla.

One of my current projects is GIRL PIANO TRUCK, a concept I launched and funded in 2013. I put a piano in the back of a truck and travel to remote and 3rd world countries giving free concerts in schools, orphanages, community centres etc. To date, I have taken the project to India, East Timor, Thailand, Belarus & the Philippines.

I am an Ambassador of Peace for the United Nations Association of Australia and was proudly nominated as 2016 Australian of the year.
