Invited to the 2020 Amsterdam String Quartet Biennale Young Talents Residency, Affinity Quartet embarks on its second international tour.
A five week tour sees Affinity Quartet contribute to Australian music-making overseas: a Public Masterclass on Brett Dean’s String Quartets led by Dean at the Amsterdam Biennale; a collaboration with Australian mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean in London; the world première of a song cycle by Australian composer Matt Laing; performance debuts in Italy, Salzburg and France; and representing the Australian Embassy at St-Martin-in-the-Fields, London.
The quartet has also confirmed mentorships in Germany and Austria with current and past members of Artemis and Hagen Quartets.
Since Affinity formed in 2015 government funding and private philanthropy has assisted us to tour nationally, overseas, and to collaborate with other artists. All of our 2020 tour activities are now confirmed and we seek much needed financial backing.
